Binland Pty Ltd is a growing manufacturing company based in Dandenong’s busy industrial sector, building large commercial bins. WM Solar & Electrical were engaged to review their electricity usage and recommend cost effective ways of reducing their energy bills. We performed a full review of their energy usage then tried to identify opportunities to decrease energy costs and increase efficiency.
The factory built was built a few decades ago and had old inefficient metal halide high bay lights. These where identified as an easy and cost-effective way of reducing energy usage, improving lighting conditions and reducing costly light bulb replacements. The factory also had a large, fairly unused roof space that was ideal for a PV solar installation.
WM Solar & Electrical changed all 8 of the existing high bay light fittings to LED high bays which not only reduced electricity usage but also increased lighting output. This made working on overcast days easier on employees as light reaching factory floor was greatly increased.
WM Solar & Electrical designed and installed a 26.4 kW PV solar system to reduce energy used from the grid. The system comprises of 88 x 315-watt Seraphim panels wired in strings of 4 by 22 panels. The inverter chosen for this site was a European made Fronius ECO 25 kW 3 phase unit.
The Fronius was selected because it has inbuilt string protection via inline fuses and provides real-time fault detection and rectification features.
12 months after the changes were made Binland’s power bills were in credit by $627. This was the amount of the cheque they received from their power company.
